Andy's Birthday

For Andy's birthday yesterday I made him a "Moab" cake. It wasn't the greatest looking cake in the world, but I thought it turned out okay, and at least it tasted good! We have a lot left-over though, so we'll probably just eat mutilated Moab for my birthday tomorrow, too!

We had a little birthday party for him over at his mom's house. Rachel was kind enough to do all the decorating. She even found some cute little party plates in her mom's storage room.

I was looking for 27 candles to put on the cake when Rachel pointed out that we still had a "2" left-over from Branson's birthday that we never used. She said, "Man! If only we had a 7!" Next thing we know, Karen finds a brand-new-still-in-the-package 7 in her cupboard whilst looking for 27 other candles. Don't ask me who keeps random 7's in their cupboard, but it matched perfectly with the 2, so we were all set!

Andy opening presents. Rick and Betsy got him a new road bike tire, and I got him an onion chopper, a 48-pack of peanut M&M's (that I got for SUPER cheap off our company store at work), and a guitar lesson book that I made. We had decided to "be creative" for our birthdays since we're not rolling in the dough anymore :), and he's been wanting to learn to play the guitar, and even borrowed a guitar from his brother Pat, which has been sitting at our house collecting dust, so I did some research and found a website that offered 11 printable lessons for beginner's. I put them in a binder with a couple of pick's so he could start to learn.

Easter Sunday

I really wanted a new dress for Easter. I had gotten Kylee one several weeks ago when they were on sale at Kohl's for $7. On Saturday, I was telling my mother-in-law: "I really wish I could find someplace that sells dresses. I've been wanting a new one for months. I would really like a red one." Now, this was said as we were driving towards Costco. When we walked in, right there on a display at the very front of the store was this dress. At first I thought it looked too short and too low-cut, but they were letting people try them on right over the top of their clothes, and it was perfect. I even convinced Andy to put on his matching red tie and come outside for a picture. Doesn't Kylee look adorable??

Kylee's First Easter Egg Hunt

After church on Sunday we took Kylee out to have her first Easter Egg Hunt. It was more like an easter-egg-pick-up, as I didn't actually HIDE the eggs...but it was fun. At first she didn't get it, and aunt Rachel had to show her what to do. Then she got the hang of it, and stopped trying to open up each egg as soon as she found it. I'm not big on candy, so I filled the eggs with whole-wheat goldfish crackers (which she loves), a FEW chocolate covered raisins, and some money that I dumped out of my piggy bank. She didn't really care what was in them anyway.

I realize that people probably don't care to see 8 pictures of Kylee's first Easter Egg Hunt, but I can never decide which ones to use!

Playing at the Playground

We went to a park a couple of weeks ago (discussed below...I posted in the wrong order AGAIN) that had a HUGE slide. Kylee loves slides, so I thought we'd let her try it. Rachel went with her to the top, and I waited at the bottom to catch her. As it turned out, she didn't need anyone to help her. After a couple of times, she even knew exactly where to go when she got off the bottom. She would run right back around to the other side and climb all the way back up again. This kid has no fear! And before I get accused of being the world's worst mom again for letting a kid her size go on such a huge slide...we do have one about 1/2 this size at our neighborhood private park that she has been on dozens of times, so it's not like it was something new and I was scaring her to death!! I was already pretty confident that she would love it. If you listen closely, you can hear her tell me "bye-bye" after I say it to her.

Picnic at the Park

My sister Candice came down with her family to visit a couple of weeks ago when her kids were on Spring Break. This is Matthew, who just turned two, Tapanga, who is 8, and Kylee.
We went down to a park near our home to have a picnic. Kylee had a lot of fun running around and enjoying the sunshine. Andy also enjoyed being able to get out of the house for awhile.

Brushing Her Teeth

Kylee is a big fan of teeth brushing. She doesn't really get it, and usually just eats her baby toothpaste off her toothbrush and then chews on the bristles, but one day when I was getting ready for the day I let her sit on the counter next to the sink and "help". Next thing I knew, she was preparing to brush her teeth. She also knows right where aunt Rachel keeps HER toothpaste and toothbrush. If nobody wants Kylee spit on their stuff...doors better be kept shut!

Disney On Ice

In the middle of March, my mom took Kylee and I and my sister Tiffany to see Disney on Ice in Salt Lake. It was a pretty nice day, so afterwards when we were walking back to the car, we let Kylee stand by the fountains at the gateway mall. A bunch of other kids were running through the fountain and getting all wet, but I didn't think it was THAT nice of a day!

My mom got Kylee a souveneir to take home and share with dad, because a bunch of kids had them during the show and she kept staring. It has tinkerbell on the top and when you push the button it lights up and spins around. It looks really cool in the dark. Kylee likes to play with it until one of the spinning sides hits her. Then she's not too thrilled anymore!
