More Lego Creations

This is Kylee's new home.

Andy has been wanting to build a Lego tower up to the ceiling, so one day when he was at school, Kylee and I decided to try it. And when I say Kylee and I, I mean just I. I didn't want Kylee to help because she tends to knock it over. I let her brush her teeth and wash her hands over and over again to keep her distracted while I built the tower. It was huge! We didn't quite make it to the ceiling, but it was very close.

Play-Doh

For her birthday, Kylee got some Play-Doh from her cousins. I would like to claim that she made this, but in reality, Mommy made a snail (top)...
...and Kylee made this (bottom): "I make a snail, too, mommy!"

Then, Mommy made a flower (top), and Kylee made this (bottom): "I make fower, too, mommy!"
Well, at least she had the right colors!

Cooking Food

Kylee got a little set of dishes from one of the ladies I work with. We had to open it up so she could "cook" us some food. She gave us each one plate, one spoon, and one fork, and then proceeded to roll and cut our "food" (cookie cutters) before we could eat it.

I thought I had her fooled when I would hide my cookie cutter and pretend I ate it all up, and then put it back on the couch when she wasn't looking, but she would just say, "Mommy eat it all up?" And I would say, "Yep." And then she would find the cookie cutter and say, "Thank you mommy. I making you some more." Then she would give it to me all over again, after re-rolling, re-scooping and re-cutting it. She's no fool!!

KYLEE TURNS TWO!!

On Monday, January 11, 2010, Kylee Ann Costin turned two years old. What a great kid!
We let her sit on top of the coffee table to open her presents, which made it a VERY special occassion for her. Usually she's not allowed on the table. Notice the drool marks on her shirt. Even at two years old, she's the drool queen! She hasn't learned how to swallow her spit, I guess!

Birthday Party

We had Kylee's party on Sunday afternoon since I had to work on Monday and Andy had school. She thought it was fun to have everyone there, and to open presents.

Yea! Another week's supply of Lip Smackers!

I thought this tutu was so cute, I made her put it on right then and there. She didn't want to, but once it was on, she was happy. She walked around taking pictures of everyone with her toy princess camera. It really flashes, makes the clicking sound, and says things like "Oh! You look Wonderful" and "You're as pretty as a princess". Kylee now says those things when she takes my picture too. It's funny!

My Favorite Things...

I can't believe Kylee is already two. The time has gone by so fast! She's such a smart little girl now, instead of a helpless little baby. (Though if you ask her, she's still a baby). Here are my favorite things about Kylee right now:
1) Every day when I get home from work, I accidentally knock her over with the door leading in from the garage to the house, because she is right there screaming "Hi MOMMY!!!" at the top of her lungs. She's always so happy to see me, she doesn't even care that I knocked her over. She just gets up and hugs me.
2) Time out. When we put her in time out, she has to go to the corner and put her nose in. However, some inner Kylee-mechanism means automatically...nose in, bum out. She swings her little bum back and forth with her nose pressed up against the wall. It's hilarious, but we try to laugh quietly so she won't know.
3) Lip Gloss. I'm pretty sure Kylee has used up almost two whole tubes of lip gloss in one week. She will certainly not have any issues with chapped lips! She applies it over and over and over and over and over and over again. And then she applies it again. When you ask her if she's done, she says, "Almost", and then applies at least 10 more coats. When you ask her to put on the lid and put it in her pocket, she says, "One more time", and applies at least 10 MORE coats. But...they are Skittles flavored Lip Smackers, so at least she smells good!

An Indignant Almost 2-Year-Old

Our friend Dustin took this photo at my mom's wedding reception on Dec. 26. He was trying out different ways his flash could work, and Kylee didn't want him to take anymore pictures of her. I think she looks so cute!

Kylee's 1st Haircut!!

I know I've posted these two photos before...but this time I want you to look specifically at Kylee's hair...just to reminisce!!

I've trimmed Kylee's bangs twice before, because they get too long, but it recently became apparent that she needed a real haircut (see top two photos). Her hair in the back was a good 2 inches below her shoulders...and all the hair on the sides was still super short. For those of you who remember the mullets of the 80s...that was our kid in 2009! I started insisting that she have pigtails every day, because that way her hair looked cute. I was SURE the sides would catch up one of these days. But week after week and month after month of pigtails only served to cause her poor little hairs to die and start breaking. Andy *kindly* informed me that I would either take her to get a haircut...or he would cut it for me. So, last Saturday, Kid and I went on a field trip to the hair cutting place. In the picture above, she's not sure what's going on...

She did a really good job holding still the whole time. (It might have helped that I promised to walk over to Arctic Circle and have ice cream if she was good). Later though, when everyone kept asking her, "Did you get your hair cut?" She told them all, "Yep! And I sit in de chair!", so I guess she thought it was pretty fun after all.

Here she is eating ice cream after her hair cut. I know most of you probably think she looks the same...but TRUST US!! She DOESN'T!! The mullet is GONE!!

Here she is feeling beautiful with her new hair-do.
Good job Command Performance! I think it turned out really well. Maybe next time I won't be so scared!

Kylee's House

The other day I told Kylee I wanted to build a house out of her Lego's. It was just a tiny little house, and when I turned my back to get more Lego's, she climbed in and sat down and her little bum wrecked my house. So...I decided we better build a larger house to accomodate her. Next week is her 2nd birthday, and she's getting ANOTHER 100-pack of Lego's (which is really an 80-something pack...stupid WalMart!), so stay tuned for our new cool Lego creations!!
P.S. Notice the mullett-like attributes of Kylee's hair in these photos, and then move on to the next post!
