February 2019

A couple of weeks before Valentine's Day I kept seeing people post on our local Facebook pages about these little mailboxes that they would customize. By the time I contacted them though, they were sold out, so I looked on Etsy and found some that were even cuter and less expensive than the ones made locally. I ordered these from a gal in Texas, and they arrived at the end of January. Starting on Feb. 1, through Valentine's Day, Andy and I left the kids little notes and/or treats in their mailbox each night. First thing in the morning they would run out to check their mail. They really loved it, and it was so fun to do!

Ally got her first hair cut (aside from the few times I've cut her bangs). Her hair is still so thin and weird, I was hoping that getting it cut might make it easier to do hairdos in...but it didn't really. At least it looks less straggly when it is left down, though!

Colby went through a phase where he really struggled with naps. He was transitioning from two naps per day to just one, but he couldn't quite get his schedule down. He fell asleep in some random places while he figured it out. One day he fell asleep on my lap after church. Another day he fell asleep on the floor of the office while I was working on my photo book.

Another Sunday we were doing FHE and he walked away from the couch and fell asleep on the other side of the living room.

A couple of times during the week he'd be playing or doing a puzzle, and then he'd just fall asleep with his tiny bum up in the air around 10am. He was just so cute! Finally he reached a point where he could stay awake all morning and go take a nap right after lunch.

He really loves trains, and he loves to drag all the tracks out and build one to play with in the living room.

One morning I was cleaning up the kitchen and realized I hadn't seen or heard Colby for a few minutes. I found him in my bathroom with my slipper socks on.

Colby LOVES to have books read to him, but sometimes I'm busy cleaning up or making dinner or something, so Kylee or Skyler will read to him. I love seeing them together.

Kylee lost the last of her baby teeth about a year ago in Florida, but we weren't in a position to get braces while Andy was a student, so we waited until we were settled in New Mexico. At the end of January I took her in and she got her braces on. They say she'll probably have to wear them for about two years. Once they're off we can get her two front teeth a more permanent fix (they're the ones she broke years ago, and they're currently about half fake). We'll probably have to cap them, because one is really yellow. I feel like her braces make her look more grown up!

For the 100th day of school Ally's preschool had them dress up like they were 100 years old. She hunched over for her picture because "old people can't stand straight, mom." I'm not sure what old people she's talking about...but I do think she looks like a tiny old lady here!

Kylee Turns ELEVEN!

I can't believe how old Kylee is getting. It seems like just yesterday she was Ally's age! Now she's a grown up young lady. This year I'm extra grateful that her birthday is just past the new year, because otherwise with the new changes at church, she would have been starting YW right now, and I'm not ready for that!

Kylee opted to have a friend party this year, so we put up some decorations, made the blue and green cupcakes she requested, and invited her friends over for pizza and "Minute to Win It" games.

It's been sooooooo nice to have some of our Florida friends living in Carlsbad with us. It always makes adjusting to a new place easier when you already know some people! Kylee invited a couple of her school friends to her party, but while one or two of them gave her presents at school -- none of them were able to make it to the party. I was really glad the Florida friends were able to come, along with our next-door neighbor. Kylee had a really great time.
