Rocky Mountain National Park

Okay, for those of you who are thinking..."Holy Cow! Who cares to see 30 pictures of Rocky Mountain National Park?!"...just know that I COULD have posted over 150, but I picked out my favorites. I'm going to make a calendar with my 12 VERY favorites, but I haven't narrowed it down yet. This was our cabin just outside the park.
This was the view from the front door of our cabin.

These are all pictures taken on our hikes in the park. I really recommend everyone go there! We only had time to stay for one day, but I want to go back and stay for a week.

I had never seen a real lily pad before, so I had to take a picture of it close up. They were pretty!

We hiked a total of nearly 6 miles in a row. Around mile 3 or so, Kylee got tired. Riding in a backpack is REALLY hard.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

On Wednesday we went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Don't be fooled by the name...it's in Colorado Springs. The giraffes were by far the coolest thing there. You could pet them!
When Kylee thought she'd had quite enough of each animal, she would say, "Bye Bye! Bye Bye!" That's how we knew she was ready to move on. She like the giraffe's until their heads, (which are about the size of her whole body), got too close.

I liked the bears a lot too, simply because they were playing and swimming when we got there, and it was really fun to watch.

This gorilla creeps me out, because he looks really mean, but there were a lot of monkeys at the zoo, and they were all swinging and playing and having fun. Kylee liked them a lot because she's really good at making monkey sounds. I think she kept expecting them to make monkey sounds back at her, but of course they were behind glass.

Pikes Peak

We rode a train to the top of Pikes Peak, which was really cool. They said the track is so steep in some spots, the front of the train is three stories higher than the back of the train when it's going up. The train isn't very long (just three cars), so that's really steep!

If it looks like we're almost the same height as the clouds...that's because we were. Pikes Peak is really tall!
That is Colorado Springs way down there in the distance. And way far off...Nebraska. They told us that each inch of the horizon equals five miles (or something like that, I don't remember exactly), but it worked out that we could see hundreds of miles in several directions.

If you're thinking, "Yikes! What's wrong with your kid!?"...don't worry. So am I. What can I say? She's weird.

Going On Vacation

Last week we finally got the opportunity to go on vacation. Andy's sister Rachel had been gone to summer camp in Colorado for a month, so we decided to go with Andy's mom to pick her up, and then travel around Colorado for a few days of vacation. We decided to leave on Monday when Andy got done with his chemo. This is Kylee in the car preparing to leave. She's got her neck pillow (thanks Aunt Tiffany, we could make a million marketing these!), her baby, her cool shades, and blue. She's all set!
Oh yeah, and her purse. Complete with car keys, makeup, old BYU ID, DisneyWorld credit card, etc. NOW she's really all set for vacation.

A few hours later...she realized riding in the car for seven hours wasn't quite as fun as she had anticipated.

Feeding the Ducks

A couple weeks ago my sister and her family were down visiting from Idaho. We went to Nelson's Grove park, and Kylee really liked the "gucks". We've decided that "gucks" that quack, "gucks" that daddy drives, "gocks" that you can pick up and throw at the "gucks", "gocks" that go on before your shoes, "gock" which is what you do when you're too tired to run, etc., etc., all sound REMARKABLY similar when a 1 and a half year old says them. If you don't catch it in context....good luck!

Cousin Maia

On Kylee's 18-month old birthday (Saturday, July 11), my sister had a baby girl and named her Maia. At first Kylee didn't like the baby...then she thought she might poke her to check out the situation, and then she was happy. Maia's bow even matched Kylee's dress!

Family Photos

Yesterday was Kylee's 18-month birthday, so we went to get family pictures taken, and her 18-month photos at the same time. The top one was our favorite of the family.

Kylee was pretty traumatized when it came time to do her individual photos, so we gave her some snacks. She kept trying to get George to eat a craisin!
