Skyler Aaron Costin

Well...I posted too soon! On Sunday/Monday around 12:15am, I woke up because my water broke. A little less than 7 hours later, Skyler joined us! He was born at 7:03am on Monday, May 21, 2012. He was 8 lbs. 11 oz. (I KNOW, right?!? And that was nearly two weeks early!), and is 21 inches long.

More pictures to follow, but for now, here's a link to his hospital photos:

Moab

Quite awhile ago, Andy's mom scheduled a family trip to Moab for this weekend. We figured even though Kiddo #2 was less than two weeks away, we'd be fine, because Moab is only 3 hours away, and we could always come home if necessary. We were scheduled to leave on Friday morning. On Tuesday, I woke up feeling fine, and then throughout the day my throat started hurting A LOT. That afternoon, Andy's truck started having some serious difficulties. On Wednesday, I stayed home from work sick for the first time in a long time, and went to the doctor. They said I had a sinus infection, but it's not worth the risk of taking an antibiotic this close to my due date, so we should wait and see if it might be viral. Thursday I felt better, but looked worse! My eyes were swollen and pouring out water. Andy's truck remained in the shop. That night, and A LOT of $$ later, it was fixed, so we decided to still go to Moab on Friday. On the way down there, we got a flat tire out of the blue. I mentioned to Andy that perhaps we should have paid attention to some of the signs that this was not a good time for us to go to Moab.

Once Andy got the tire fixed, we continued on our way, only to spend an extra 45 minutes stuck in construction traffic before arriving at the condo we'd rented. By then I was getting a little worried that maybe we WERE going to have the baby this weekend...because what else could possibly happen?

Luckily...(or unluckily?)...we didn't! The weekend was very relaxing. Andy's mom had given me some Benadryl to help my eyes, and it worked miracles! I felt a lot better, the kids spent hours swimming in the pool, Andy and his brother Pat did some mountain biking, and my two sisters-in-law and I spent time lounging by the pool and swimming as well. It was so sunny and warm! I was wishing we could stay another day or two, and so was Kylee. She LOVES the pool. Give her a floatation device, and she's happy as a clam!

New Bed

With the birth of Baby #2 coming up, we decided that we needed to get Kylee a big-girl bed (twin size) so that we could have our crib mattress back. She helped me pick one out online, and we patiently waited for the site-to-store pickup at Walmart. On the day it arrived, she was so excited to go get it. Andy kept teasing her that we might not get there in time, and she totally believed him. She ate her dinner super fast, and then the whole time we were driving there she kept saying, "We just have a little further. I think we'll make it. We don't even have to go on the freeway. I think we're almost there." Poor kid was so worried! Then as soon as we walked into the store, we went to the bedding section to have her pick out some sheets, and she couldn't even focus because she was so worried about picking up her bed!

As soon as we got home, she was sure she needed to help daddy put it together. She thought she didn't even have time to help me clean up her room because "Daddy needs my help, mom!" I finally convinced her that daddy could manage on his own long enough for her to help me clean. When he brought the pieces in, she "helped" by holding up the ends so he could put on the side rails.

When they got the whole thing together, she "helped" Andy get the mattress from the basement (she went with me to pick it out a few weeks ago, and then helped Andy store it in the basement until her bed arrived) because she is "super strong, and Daddy cannot do it by himself. He needs my help, mom."
Finally, the bed was ready. Last year for Christmas my sister Tiffany made her a twin size quilt, and she's been waiting and waiting for a big girl bed to put it on, which she now has. She's so excited!

Motorcyles

My brother-in-law (Todd) has a motorcycle that he rides when the weather is nice. Kylee HATES it, and refused to go near it, because "it's too loud!" However, one day recently we were hanging out down at my mom's house, and we went on a picnic to the school playground down the road. We walked there, and it took around 10 minutes or so. After awhile, Kylee came dancing up to me...and informed me that she really, really needed to visit the restroom. Being a school on a Saturday...there were not restrooms available. Someone suggested that Todd and Tiff could just zip her down the street on the motorcycle to my mom's house. I guess she was desperate, because she agreed to go...but only if I would go with her instead of Tiff. So we squeezed Todd, Kylee and my pregnant-barefoot self on that bike, and off we went. I guess the good news is...even though we totally looked like hippies...Kylee actually thought it was fun!

Baby Shower

A few weeks ago my mom threw a family baby shower for me, since it's been over 4 years since Kylee was born, and we're having a boy this time. It was pretty fun! Tiff made a little quilt, and Kylee helped open all the presents.

I got to see my aunt and some cousins that I haven't seen in a quite awhile, which was also fun. Plus, all my sisters except Connie (who actually gave birth to her son Paxton that morning out in Denver) were there.

The only *slightly* embarrassing part was when we played the "guess-how-many-squares-of-toilet-paper-it-takes-to-go-around-Terra's-belly" game. When we did Connie's baby shower awhile back, my mom guessed 10 squares and was right on. At my baby shower, I was the same number of weeks along...but my mom guessed EIGHTEEN squares! She's been telling everyone all along that she things I'm HUGE, but come on! Eighteen?!? Luckily, it turned out to only be eleven.
