Preschool Graduation

Yesterday, (May 20), was Kylee's preschool graduation. She was so excited to get to wear a cap and gown.

They sang a few songs, and each kid had a part to say. Kylee's part was the letter L, and it said "Big L, Little L, Little Lola Lop. Left Leg, Lazy Lion Licks a Lollypop." She memorized it on the way home from school in the car on the first day they gave it to her. After that we practiced saying it loud, clear, and slow. I was worried that she might get scared with all the people there, but she did really good.

At the end, all the kids got to take a Cat in the Hat hat home to keep. 

This year in preschool Kylee learned to read, and made it through all 40 of the beginner books her school had, plus the level A and level B books (we checked them out from the Spanish Fork library), and then we moved on to other beginning readers. I like that the Spanish Fork library has a section for kids learning to read, so there is a section with one * which means easiest, then **, ***, etc. It's easy for me to pick out books for her that way. She's gotten really good at sounding out words and she's super excited that she gets to ride the bus to first grade this Fall. Apparently she already knows where the bus stop is, and has informed me that she does NOT need me to walk her there. I informed her that I know she doesn't NEED me to do it, but I'm going to anyway, because I'm the mom, and that's what moms do. She's so grown up!

Kylee's First Loose Tooth

A couple of months ago I noticed that Kylee had a loose tooth. I remembered to ask her about it a couple of times after that, wondering if she was wiggling it, etc. Then last week (Wednesday, May 15), she was laying on my lap and I asked her to show me her loose tooth. I realized her new tooth was already growing in behind, so I decided it was time to get that thing out. I wiggled it a whole bunch for her, then yanked it out with a pair of tweezers. She was pretty brave, and was so excited to put it under her pillow for the tooth fairy.

Spring Days in the Sun

I LOVE sunshine. I would spend every sunny day outside if I could. One day we went to the animal farm at Thanksgiving Point with some of Andy's family. Don't be fooled by Kylee's smile on the pony. I had to put her on there kicking and screaming, and this photo took at least four tries. She did end up enjoying it though, once she realized she wasn't going to die.

Skyler was wishing that he was big enough to ride the ponies, but instead he just had to sit on the sidelines with dad.

We also went on a wagon ride (pulled by horses). Kylee claims she liked the ponies better, but there was no kicking and screaming involved with this one...so I'm just not sure. 

Another day my mom and Bruce invited us on a picnic at a park in Spanish Fork. Kylee took Skyler down the slide a couple of times, and he thought it was really fun. 

 They both really love to swing. In this picture Skyler looks a little scared, but really he pretty much laughs the whole time. He thinks it is super fun.

Another day we went hiking in Payson Canyon. It was Skyler's first experience in the backpack, and he did really good. As you can tell by his face in this photo, he was NOT fond of the loud noise the waterfall was making, but later, when we were hiking on a different trail that was quiet, he fell asleep.

More Random Photos

A couple of weeks ago Andy noticed that some little birds were spending a lot of time on our deck. After they flew away, he opened up the BBQ and figured out why. They must have been building this for at least a week!

Also a couple of weeks ago, Kylee was mentioning what a huge mess Skyler makes when he eats. That day after dinner, she made him this sign:

Kylee loves to "style" my hair for me. She brushes it, twists it, puts barrettes and clips in, etc. The other night Skyler kept trying to steal her brush, so she got him his own. He kept pulling himself up and "brushing" my hair. The only problem was...his idea of brushing involved whacking me in the head with his brush over and over again. He sure thought he was doing a good job, though!

I can't believe this baby is already such a big boy. He's so fun to watch, and he's already eating us out of house and home. I think most meals he eats more than Kylee does!

Soccer

This Spring we decided to sign Kylee up for Elk Ridge City Youth Soccer. She isn't very aggressive, and tends to stand back and let others kick the ball unless it comes right to her, but she is good at being goalie. The first time she stopped a goal, she was so proud. She also thinks she's pretty good at the game, so I guess that's what matters! After her most recent game, we were thinking Andy needs to take her out to practice more, and then she got in the car and said "That was a good game, wasn't it mom?! I got some really good kicks!" At least she's having fun!
