Ally

In June we finally got around to blessing Ally, and it turned out to be a perfect day to do it because we had most of our family there and several of our friends. I found Ally a beautiful brand new blessing dress on the Payson Facebook yardsale page, and I thought she looked so cute. At that time she was in the habit of having poo-splosions pretty often though, and I was worried that she might get poo on her dress, so I put on her diaper, then strapped one of Skyler's size 4 diapers over the top, then a onesie, then a diaper cover, then the dress. In the end she didn't poo at all, but better safe than sorry, right!?

Right after she turned 3 months old she suddenly learned to roll, both front-to-back and back-to-front. I would leave her on the floor (in the photo above she started on the jungle mat), and a few minutes later she'd be 1/2 way across the room. She really likes to lay on her tummy and look around at things.

Kylee's Two Mile Race

A few months ago I saw an ad online for a "Hey Kid" 2-Mile run in Spanish Fork. It was on May 24, so I signed Kylee up to do it. We also invited her cousin Conner to do it with us. It's for kids 6 and up, but they also had a shorter run for younger kids, so another cousin, Megan, ran that one.

Andy's brother Richie was nice enough to jog along with the kids and keep them motivated. The run went one mile out (on this path), and then they turned around and came one mile back.

Kylee ended up getting 26:37 as a finish time, which isn't bad for a 6-year-old kid running two miles, especially since we didn't practice. When I first signed her up I had her run down to the end of our street and back a couple of times, but probably the max she ran was 1/2 mile once or twice, and shorter distances a few more times. I didn't have her do it as much as I meant to! The whole point is to have fun and get the kids active, so it was a success, I think.

Skyler's Birthday

Whenever we go to an appointment that has one of these in their waiting room, Skyler LOVES it. He cries when we have to leave. I looked them up online a few months ago and realized they're pretty expensive. However, about a week before his birthday I was looking at the Elk Ridge Facebook Yardsale page, and someone was selling one for cheap. I'm all for buying used stuff in good condition! He has no idea that it's not brand new, and he loves it.

The morning of his birthday Kylee had to teach him how to open his presents, and he kept having to take a break to play with his other toy. It took forever to get those presents open!

Skyler loves Dinosaur Train, and he's really good at making dinosaur sounds, so we made a dinosaur cake for his birthday party. It was supposed to look like Buddy, but it came out a little meaner looking than he does on the cartoon. Ah, well. Skyler like it, and that's what matters!

I'm not sure if he thought the whole cake was for him, or what, but he was sure interested in it.

When Andy started lighting candles he got a little worried, but after they were blown out, he clapped and was plenty happy.

Skyler Sleeps

So I've said before that Skyler sleeps in some weird places. Here is a post all about Skyler sleeping. When my sister Connie was here, she took the boys on a walk around the neighborhood one morning while I was working. Within one lap they fell asleep, so she and Andy took turns pushing them around and around so they could take a good nap.

One night I went to check on the kids before bed like I always do, and found Skyler sleeping in Kylee's bed with her. She told me the next morning that he was hogging her whole pillow, so she had to use her pillow pet. At least she's nice enough to let him sleep there!

Another night I went to check on them, and at first I didn't see Skyler. He had apparently pulled a bunch of stuffed animals off the dresser, took a blanket from Kylee's bed, and then was too exhausted to get back in his own bed.

One day I was making dinner and Skyler was downstairs playing. Suddenly I realized he wasn't making as much noise as usual (this kid can get LOUD), so I sent Kylee down to see what he was doing, and this is what she found. Too tired to come upstairs, I guess!

One morning he was asleep on the floor by his bed, but his one leg was still up on the bed. I went to get my camera but when I came back he was awake - barely.

We still often find him asleep behind the door as well.

Once in a blue moon I check on him and find him actually in his bed.

This was another night when I was making dinner. We thought Skyler was downstairs playing, and we sent Kylee to check. She came back up and said he wasn't down there (he was blocked by the beanbag so she couldn't see him from the stairs), so Andy and I frantically started running around yelling his name. We thought he might have escaped outside. Nope. He was fast asleep next to his open drawer of cars and trucks.

Kylee Dance

This year we've been fortunate to have a dance studio in the basement of a house just around the corner from us. Their prices are excellent and Kylee can walk to and from her class, which is super convenient. Before their Spring recital they took all the girls out to have photos taken in their costumes, and I love how Kylee's turned out. I also love that her glasses match the costume!
