Skyler Can Walk!

Skyler has *finally* decided to be a walking baby. He's not very good at it, and you'll have to excuse his white trash diaper bum, but for those that have been waiting to see it (cough...Connie...cough), here it is!

Kylee's Swimming Lessons

Kylee took three sessions of swimming lessons this summer. She first took level 1, and passed to a level 3 during that session. She then took level 3 twice. She was the smallest/youngest kid in her class, and I'll probably have her take level 3 again next summer (even though she did pass it this year) because then she'll be more the age/size of the other kids. She is super brave, and loves the water. On the last day, as always, they got to play on the slide and diving board. She loves that now she doesn't have to have her teacher help her, and she can just swim to the side by herself. The photo above is her "twirly jump." 

Andy's Bike Ride

Last Saturday Andy rode a bike ride called the "Ultimate Challenge". It was Stage 5 of the Tour of Utah bike race. The race had two options - a 76 mile option that went from Ogden to Park City, and a 113 mile option that continued from Park City, over Guardsman's Pass, down the canyon, and up to Snowbird. Andy has been so busy with school, etc., that he didn't have time to train for this ride, so he told me to be prepared to come get him in Park City if needed. He ended up calling me that morning and saying he was about 5 miles out from the end, and would stop at the first finish line - 76 miles in Park City. I was already on my way to Provo to run some errands, so the kids and I headed straight up the canyon and actually got to the finish line before Andy did. It turned out that he was really about 14 miles out when he called me, so we had time to beat him, and cheer as he finished. 

Skyler didn't understand why dad got to eat all the snacks, so we had to sneak him a banana and a water bottle from the rest area stuff that was provided.

Boating

Last week we went boating for the first time this year, so it was Skyler's first time on the boat. He got bored after awhile and decided to take a nap. The water was pretty choppy because a storm was blowing in, so we were kind of surprised he was able to sleep with all the jerky motion going on! 

Later he decided that it was his turn to drive the boat. He allowed dad to help, only because he couldn't see over the dashboard very well. He even managed to push pretty much every button there was, including finding the horn.

Independent Skyler

Skyler has recently decided that nobody is allowed to feed him. He has to eat EVERYTHING all by himself. He makes a huge mess, usually, but he is happy as a clam while doing it! 

He usually attempts to use his spoon first, but then when he gets frustrated he gives up on the spoon and just goes with the hands. Much easier!
